Congratulations, Mr. Ambassador!

Seth Jarvis

Former planetarium staff member, and life-long amateur astronomer (of considerable expertise) Patrick Wiggins, known to most folks around here as a ”NASA Solar System Ambassador” has been singled out by NASA for a highly prestigious Distinguished Public Service Medal acknowledging his decades of invaluable service to the field of Astronomy.

From the NASA DSM site: “This is NASA’s highest form of recognition that is awarded to a Government employee who, by distinguished service, ability, or vision has personally contributed to NASA’s advancement of United States’ interests. The individual’s achievement or contribution must demonstrate a level of excellence that has made a profound or indelible impact on NASA mission success, and therefore, the contribution is so extraordinary that other forms of recognition by NASA would be inadequate.”

I may be wrong, but I think this is the first time this award has gone to a Utahn.

Congratulations, Patrick!
