Hey Venus! Say “Cheese!”

Seth Jarvis

We’re seeing lots (and lots) of interest in the June 5th Transit of Venus.

Some folks want to know how best to photograph it.

Fortunately, the good people at Sky and Telescope Magazine (required reading for serious amateur astronomers) released a very helpful article on the subject of “How to photograph the Transit of Venus.”  I highly recommend it to anyone who thinks they want to capture this rare (as in, we won’t see another one in until 2117) and wonderful celestial event.

Our Planet Fun Science Store will shortly have in stock “Baader” solar filter material that you can use to fashion your own solar filters for your camera or telescope, if you’d like to try your hand at photographing the transit but don’t yet have a factory-made solar filter for it.
