“Perfect Little Planet” isn’t just our new show…

Mike Murray

It’s a showcase of what the updated Hansen Dome Theatre can do!

After more than a year in the making, Clark Planetarium Productions is premiering its most groundbreaking new show since “The Secret of the Cardboard Rocket!”  “Perfect Little Planet”  is revolutionary in a number of ways. It’s an up-to-date look at the solar system that will appeal to almost everyone — families, schools and the general public alike. It has stunning visuals, full character animation and incredible performances by the some of the most talented actors working in Utah.

With the Clark Planetarium’s new Digistar 4 dome projector system, detail, color and sharpness are like nothing we’ve been able to show before. The frame rate of our new system is *double* the projection speed of a standard movie. This translates into smoother and more sharply detailed motion as you rocket through the solar system.  And the resolution is far, far greater than even high definition!

So what *is* the story?  Imagine you could take the ultimate space vacation — where would you go to find that ideal place?  In “Perfect Little Planet,” a family from another star system is doing just that — looking for the perfect vacation spot as they travel through our solar system. Join them and see the solar system from a distinctly different point of view. Soar over the surface of Pluto, our best known Dwarf Planet. Dive down the ice cliffs of Uranus’ moon Miranda at breath-taking speeds. Sail through the beautiful rings of Saturn and dare the ferocious lightning storms on Jupiter.  Which destination would *you* choose?

You and your family can now explore some of the best known sights of our solar system with Clark Planetarium’s new show, “Perfect Little Planet.”  You’ll feel as though you’re actually there – and best of all, no 3D glasses are required!

Built in our dome for space travelers of all ages, the public premiere is Friday, February 17. Running Time: 35 minutes.

Departures daily!
