The topic will cover the February 15th 2013 near-miss of asteroid 2012 DA14 and the surprise same-day asteroid explosion above Chelyabinsk, Russia were a cosmic dope-slap; we need to be better prepared to deal with incoming asteroids. Asteroid impacts are inevitable and pose a significant threat to life on Earth. The technology now exists to detect and deflect hazardous asteroids. What will it take for us to use this technology when we need it?
The event is free. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. Donations are welcome. This is a special 21 and over event. Must have I.D.
